Upgrades give a guaranteed boost to specific stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item by 3. Each upgrade item also boosts the random substatus.

Upgraded gear generally sees greater value for trade, unless it has inherently low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or has a high stat variation (like the eth titan weapons). Upgrades aren't as useful for those with lower requirements due to the requirement to roll an exact version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of armor or weapon. However, the item that is used for the upgrade will remain in use for a long time and can't be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to enchantments.

The upgrader can be found in every major city, and can be visited anytime to upgrade your equipment. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader at least once every few weeks to ensure that your equipment is up to date.

Upgrades will cost more depending on the level of the item but they will always be cheaper than buying new equipment. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest up to ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. A similar item upgrade will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items which can be used to level up weapons tools, armor, and other accessories. They are purchased by players through item Level upgrade upgrader NPCs in exchange for different currencies, and may also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade is able to be used on any weapon, tool or armor. button, which will show an image of the item at its next upgrade level if the player has sufficient materials.

Upgrade costs differ based on the slot of the item upgrader kit and the current level of the item. For instance, weapons will cost more than gloves, bracers, or bracers. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a number of crests, with certain upgrades offering discounts to reduce the cost of the Flightstones or the crests used. Once an item is upgraded to a certain amount it is able to be degraded and returned to the upgrader for a lower amount of the two currencies.

Upgraders for items are available at many locations on the main island as well as some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade coupon and the possibility of obtaining a new recipe. The upgrade discount increases when more items are upgraded. It can be increased if players complete certain achievements or quests.

Crests

Players have a variety of choices when it comes to upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are a currency that is available to all players for upgrading. Crests are the main component of the Dragonflight gear progression system that was introduced in 10.1, and come in four ranks.

The first thing to remember is that crests are only available for equipment with a certain rank. Each rank has distinct upgrade paths. The easiest and most straightforward upgrade is 15 crests. The most complicated upgrade requires up to 20 crests, based on the type of equipment that is being upgraded.

The new currency system isn't difficult to use, however it does bring some changes to the upgrade process. Once a piece of gear reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it no longer requires Flightstones. This is especially true for items like trinkets and rings that occupy multiple slots on the character which will only be able to avail the account-wide discount when all of the slots are filled with top-quality gear.
