1. Roomba iRobot i3+ from iRobot EVO

The i3+ EVO is similar to its sibling, the i3 EVO. They differ only in that the i3+ has self-emptying capabilities. This makes the i3+ a great choice for people who want an automated cleaning, hands-free cleaning experience but don't mind taking the time to empty their robot's trash bin as it gets full.

Both robots excel at cleaning up surface debris from carpets and hard floors and they're very adept at maneuvering around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software makes smart maps of your home that help the i3+ EVO navigate and clean in a way that maximizes efficiency. However, unlike the i7+ or other top rated robots we test the i3+ doesn't have a feature for avoiding obstacles and therefore it could get stuck on things like power cords or socks, and it can have difficulty traversing transitions across surfaces, such as from hardwood to rug.

iRobot recommends clearing areas where the i3+ EVO will vacuum before you use it, which includes putting away any clutter or toys it may encounter. It's also an excellent idea to keep the dust bin and filter clean so that they aren't clogged by dirt. When the i3+ EVO’s internal bin is empty or the battery is low it returns to the docking station, and it automatically takes the dirt out of the docking station's dust bin. Then it continues cleaning from where it began. Battery life is about an hour and a half of continuous use. It takes three hours to fully charge.

2. IRobot Roomba i7+

The iRobot i7+ is the top model in iRobot's flagship line and is packed with the most recent features. It is self-charging and self-navigating. However, the most important feature is its self vacuum-emptying bin. This will eliminate the need for routine maintenance.

The Roomba I7+ can better map rooms with Imprint Smart Mapping. It also integrates with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning jobs, and you can control your robot through the app or voice.

In our tests the i7+ performed quicker and more maneuverable than our runner-up and the eufy RoboVac G30, and it removed large chunks of pet hair from all surfaces kinds including carpeting. Its biggest advantage over the eufy the dust bin is self-emptying, which removes a major source of maintenance and lowers the amount of time spent cleaning.

We were also awestruck by the i7+’s compatibility with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We used these services to instruct the robot to begin or stop cleaning sessions as well as move around the room, and even vacuum a specific area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ with these services. We were able, once connected, to voice commands to the i7+, such as "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options to manage the i7+'s settings and monitoring its performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

In a world full of vacuums that are cordless and are like minivans and buses, this tiny Dyson model feels like an automobile. It's powerful enough to replace a stand-up vacuum in the majority of homes, but it is also compact enough to fit on a coffee table or bookcase.

The V10 is powered by seven cells of energy-dense Lithium-ion batteries, which produces power without fading for 60 minutes.
