Robots that vacuum and clean provide the convenience of cleaning both dry debris and wet messes in one time, without having to switch between devices. They can also reduce space when compared to two separate units, especially in smaller living areas.

A good combination bot will have impressive navigation and obstacle avoidance. Look for models that have docks that let them automatically empty their bins, fill their water tanks, and wash the mopping pads.

1. Eufy S1 Pro

It has plenty to offer for its relatively low cost, and it's one of the easiest robots we've tested to install. Unpacking is easy, and the quick-start guide will have you up and running in no time. It comes with an entire dust bag, water tank and a hard floor.

The S1 Pro is a powerful small machine that can cleans up a mess and also vacuums well. The mops are spun at high speed and use 2.2 pounds (1kg of force) to swiftly take away pet hair, dirt and sticky dried spills. The vacuum cleaner comes with four power settings, a range of attachments and brushes and an intuitive app which lets you choose the type of cleaning you'd like to do for each room.

You can, for example, ask the robot vacuum that vacuums and mops to clean the kitchen and living room thoroughly but leave the bedroom in its own space. The S1 Pro's front collision sensors and smart navigation technology are also excellent, with the robot being capable of detecting small obstacles that other models struggle with. The only issue it has is that it tends to crash into walls and objects at a high speed, but a quick glance at the history of cleaning in the app will tell you exactly what it's doing, where it's going, and which obstacles it's run into or avoided.

The docking station comes with an LCD display that displays when maintenance is needed like emptying the debris and rinsing the water tank that is dirty. It's also capable of mixing detergent automatically into the water tank by using a 600ml bottle filled with Eufy's own solution.

Both the S1 Pro mop and vacuum have a long run time. The mop can operate for 184 minutes in Quiet Mode. The vacuum can last for 136 minutes in standard mode, before needing to recharge or returning back to the base. 2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra

The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra, the latest version of Roborock's most popular robot vacuum and mop is the most recent version. The model this year has an agitator that doubles as its mopping pad. This improves the carpet cleaning capabilities of this model. The S8 Pro Ultra also has an improved suction capacity, allowing it to remove fine hairs and other debris that other robotic cleaners could overlook.

As with the two other Roborock models I've tried it also has a 3D obstacle avoidance and infrared technology that helps it avoid walls, furniture and other obstacles. The S8 Pro Ultra goes one step further and includes a dual-camera that can identify objects, determining if they're walls or other surfaces. It then can alter its direction in a way that is automatic vacuum cleaner and mop and clean around them, without missing a step.

It's the most expensive robot I've ever tested and it comes with the most features. Its sleek, angular style is attractive and it has just three physical buttons: the power button, which can also restart cleaning; a mop button that doubles as a child lock and a home button to return the best robot vacuum cleaner and mop to its dock. Lifting the hinged lid reveals a 350ml dust bin and 200ml water tank. The water tank automatically empties and the bin fills up automatically.

The only downside I've discovered with this model was that the VibraRise mop pad mount isn't removable. While you can swap out the mopping cloth (if necessary) however, it's a hassle to take off the mount itself for manual washing. I've noticed that any carpet that the robot crosses will be in contact with the rough Velcro like fastener on mount, which can cause scratches.

The S8 Pro Ultra has a number of smart features, including support for Google Home, Amazon Alexa and Siri. You can configure and manage these using the Roborock app, which is also the home of its maps and advanced mopping settings. The app also allows you to schedule cleanings, track battery life and component maintenance. But you'll need to jump through a few hurdles to enable voice control with this model which is unfortunate considering the performance of this model.

3. Dreame X40

The Dreame X40 robot vacuums that mop vacuum and mop is an industry leader with cutting-edge features, high suction power and cutting-edge mopping capabilities. Its intelligent design allows for personalized and efficient cleaning, while also saving time.

The X40 is the first robotic vacuum cleaner to deliver 12,000 Pascals of cleaning power, which makes it one of the most effective options available. In contrast to other robots that only focus on one task, the X40 can do both vacuuming and mopping simultaneously or individually. It can be programmed to mop only the hard floors, and skip carpeted areas, or reverse the process. It can be controlled through the Dreame app or by using Alexa, Siri, and Google Home for a seamless voice-controlled operation.

The app is intuitive and user-friendly and the X40's intelligent features are easy to set up. Users can program the X40 to clean at specific times, adjust suction power and mode, view mapping and floor plans and manage mopping settings. The X40 will also keep track of its progress and notify you when it's finished.

The X40 is easy to keep clean and has numerous features that make it a great option for busy families. Its docking station automatically empties the dustbin into a huge 3.2 L bin, cleans mop pads and refills them with clean water and cleaning solution. It can also detect when the mop pad is full and notify you when it overflows, reducing the need for manual maintenance.

4. L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a high-end robot vacuum with mop that's among the most expensive on the market however, it comes with many additional features that make it stand out. The mops come with a brand new feature called Smart DuoScrub that uses two high-speed mops to scrub floors more thoroughly than the conventional method, and it has the highest suction power of 7,000Pa. This is higher than the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra and Ecovacs Deebots T20 Omni. It can also remove pet hair, dirt particles and pick up spills and soiled spots.

The mops are cleaned and dried at the base station each time they are used. This is a great feature as it keeps mould and unpleasant odours from building up in the storage. It also makes the mop system more efficient. This is an option we haven't seen in other robot mop and vacuum models. It could be a great method to keep your home clean longer.

There's a wealth of settings on offer that include the ability to schedule cleaning times and alter a variety of preferences. The app allows you to set these preferences or you can use the buttons on the device itself. The app is easy to use and provides a variety of options for customising the cleaning routine. Additionally, there are numerous functions that other robots don't include, for instance, the Clean Genius mode that automatically increases suction power whenever it detects dust particles instead of using a manual setting.

The L20 Ultra has a stylish design with a metallic-white-white finish that looks sophisticated and classy. It's a bit heavier than the other two-in-1 robots on this list - at 4kg - but it's not obscenely heavy, and it is sturdy and well-built. The mopping system is also well-designed, and the double rotating mop is great for hard floors or in corners. They can even reach down to 2mm of baseboards thanks to the MopExtend feature which is a nice touch.
