The X1 Omni is notable for its huge dock that doubles as an charging base for the robot, a sink for cleaning and two water tanks that are 4 liters in size. It also houses two bins: a 2.5-liter dustbin and an 2.5 dust bin that is 2.5 liters.

The base also has a number of control buttons that allow you to start a cleaning job, recall the robot, or use the dock's automatic emptying process. Press two buttons to turn off the child lock. This is a wonderful feature for parents who are worried about their children messing around with the vacuum.

Like other robotic vacuums the X1 Omni utilizes its camera to spot furniture and obstacles in its path and eliminate them. True Mapping 2.0 navigation maps your home up to four times faster than laser detection systems.

Unfortunately, this means that the X1 Omni can sometimes get so entangled with obstacles, like an electrical cord dangling across a rug, that it gets stuck and ceases to function until you free it. Although this is not a common occurrence but it was a very frustrating experience when it happened and especially because the X1 Omni doesn't have an "stuck" status alert on its app.

The X1 Omni isn't able to automatically switch from mopping to vacuuming mode during a cleaning session. You will need to manually swap between the two, which isn't a big deal aside from the fact that mopping pads aren't cleaned and dried between uses, which can lead to mildew or mold.

On the positive side it's worth noting that the X1 Omni is a beautiful-looking robot vacuum cleaner, thanks to the design team at Jacob Jensen (of Bang & Olufsen fame) who conceptualized its modern, sleek base and mopping pad apparatus. It's a big contrast to the basic black bases of competitors like Roborock or iRobot. It's also an impressive sight in an industry dominated by boxy models.
