Robots that mop and vacuum offer the convenience of cleaning both dry debris (dust dirt, grit) and wet mess (spills and staining) in one session without having to swap out devices. They can also reduce space in comparison to two separate units, particularly in smaller living areas.

A good combination bot will have excellent navigation and obstacles avoidance. Look for models that have docks that let them automatically empty their bins, fill their water tanks and wash the mopping pads.

1. Eufy S1 Pro

It has a lot to offer for its relatively affordable price and is among the easiest robots we've tested to set up. Unpacking the S1 Pro is simple, and an easy-to-follow guide will have you up and running with a clean, full dust bag, a hard floor solution and water tank in no time at all.

The S1 Pro is an incredibly powerful machine that can mop and vacuum well. The mops spin at fast speeds and exert 2.2 pounds (1kg) of force, making short work of pet hair, dirt, and dried sticky spills. The vacuum cleaner comes with four power settings, a range of brushes and attachments, and an intuitive app which lets you select the type of cleaning you want for each room.

You can, for example ask the robot to clean the kitchen and the living room thoroughly but leave the bedroom to itself. The S1 Pro has excellent front collision sensors as well as smart navigation technology. It can detect small obstacles that other models cannot. The only drawback is that it is known to smash into walls and objects at a high speed. However looking at the history of cleaning in the app will reveal exactly what the robot has done, where it is going, and which obstacles it has stumbled upon or avoided.

A handy LCD screen on the docking station shows the maintenance tasks that need to be done like emptying the debris tray, and rinsing its dirty water tank. It's also capable of mixing detergent automatically into the water tank by using a 600ml bottle filled with the eufy's solution.

Both the S1 Pro mop and autonomous vacuum come with a long-running time. The mop can operate for 184 mins in Quiet Mode. The vacuum can last for 136 minutes in normal mode, before having to recharge or returning to the base. You can also view the full cleaning details in the app, which is well laid out and easily understood although we would have liked to be able to differentiate between a vacuum only or mop clean, when looking at a clean area in the cleaning history.

2. Roborock S8 Pro Ultra

The Roborock S8 Pro Ultra is the most recent version of the company's flagship robot vacuum and mop. The model this year has a double agitator built into its mopping pad. This improves the carpet cleaning capabilities of this model. The S8 Pro Ultra has an improved suction capacity that allows it to pull up smaller hairs and other particles other robotic cleaners might miss.

This Roborock model, like the other two models I tested it has infrared and a reactive 3D obstacle avoidance technology that helps it avoid obstacles such as furniture, walls, and other obstacles. The S8 Pro Ultra goes one step further and incorporates dual cameras that can detect objects, determining whether they're walls or other surfaces. It then can automatically alter its path and clean them without missing a beat.

It's the most expensive of the three models I've examined, however, it's also the most loaded with features. Its sleek, angular style is eye-catching and it has only three physical buttons that include the power button that also resumes cleaning; a mop button that doubles as a child lock and a home button to bring the robot back to its dock. The hinged lid can be opened to reveal a 350ml dustbin and 200ml water tank. The water tank is self-emptying and the bin auto-refilling.

The only negative I discovered with this model was that its VibraRise mop pad mount is not removable. While you can swap out the mopping cloth (if needed), it's a pain to take off the mount itself for manual washing. I've noticed that any plush carpet the robot hoover and mop crosses will be in contact with the rough Velcro-like fastener system on the mount, and that can cause scratches.

The S8 Pro Ultra is equipped with a number intelligent features that include support for Google Home and Amazon Alexa. The Roborock app allows you to manage and configure these advanced features. It also contains maps and advanced mopping options. The app also allows you to schedule cleanings, monitor the battery life and maintain your components. You'll have to go through some hoops to activate voice control on this model. This is a shame considering how well-performing it is otherwise.

3. Dreame X40

The Dreame X40 is an industry-leading robot vacuum and mop equipped with outstanding suction power, advanced mowing capabilities, and ingenuity features. Its smart design allows you to customize and efficiently clean while reducing time.

The X40 is the first robotic vacuum cleaner to deliver 12,000 Pascals of cleaning power, which makes it one of the top options available. Contrary to other robots which only focus on one task, the X40 is capable of performing mopping and vacuuming simultaneously or in a series. It can be programmed to only mop the hard floors, and skip carpeted areas, and reverse the process. It can be controlled via the Dreame app or with Alexa, Siri, and Google Home to ensure a smooth voice-controlled operation.

The app is user-friendly and user-friendly and the X40's intelligent features are a breeze to install. Users can program the X40 to clean at specific times, alter suction power and mode, look at floor plans and maps and manage mopping settings. The X40 will also monitor its progress and notify you when it's done.

The X40 is easy to maintain and has numerous features that make it an excellent choice for busy families. The docking station automatically empty the dustbin and wash the mop pads and refill them with fresh cleaning solution and water. It can also detect if the mop pad has reached its maximum capacity and notify you of the situation before it spills.

4. L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra robot is one of the most expensive models available. It has several features that make it stand out. Smart DuoScrub is a brand new feature on its mop heads, makes use of two high-speed mop heads to scrub floors more thoroughly. It also has a maximum suction force of 7,000Pa. This is significantly higher than the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra or Ecovacs Deebot T20 Omni and can clean pet hair and other small dirt particles as well as picking up spills and wet spots.

The mop is also dried and cleaned inside the base station after each use. This is a great feature because it prevents mould and unpleasant odours from accumulating in storage. It also makes the mop system more efficient. This is a feature has yet to be seen on other robot vacuum and mop models, and it could be a great method of keeping your home hygienic for longer.

There are a lot of options, including the ability to schedule cleanings and adjust preferences. These can be set via the app or buttons that can be found on the device itself. Mopping is well designed, and the double rotating mop is great for hard floors or in corners. They can also extend to 2mm of baseboards due to the MopExtend feature which is a nice addition.
