What is an Item Upgrader in Pokemon Go?

The item upgrader adds an additional widget at the top of both the Angel and Cash Upgrade Windows. This Manager is a cost of 33 billion Angel Investors, and has no other benefit to the game, aside from making it easier to purchase upgrades.

It boosts

Certain items come with a built-in boos that is not effective when upgraded. For instance, the Goldwrap has an extra potion slot. These are usually upgraded to add more value to a nearly perfect Best Item Upgrade.

Costs

Upgrades are accompanied by some associated costs. The first is the cost for the upgrade. The cost for this upgrade can be costly and is contingent on the new value of the item and the number of perks it receives. It is also costly to upgrade an item to a higher tier (such as Explorer > Champion, or Veteran > Heroic).

The second is the cost of the materials needed for an upgrade. These items are typically Power Dices (dropped from monsters 21+), Minerals and Erons, or specific Mists Of Pandaria or Warlords Of Draenor Quests. The amount of these items required is available in the inventory of an upgrade vendor.

It takes time to upgrade an item. Based on the magnitude of the upgrade, it can take as long as 8 hours. The upgraded item's base stats are calculated by using the new ilvl of the item bonuses, perks, and other properties. This calculation determines the updated Armor Class bonus, damage dice, and other important statistics. In certain cases the upgrade will provide additional benefits that can be chosen from a list of available benefits.

In rare cases the upgrade will only replace the most expensive benefits. The upgrader could also make other adjustments to the item, like changing the type of damage it deals to its weapon, or adding or removing a operative or unwieldy feature. These modifications are based on an item's ilvl, and may require special materials, such as the adamantine.

Success Rate

Item upgrades are based on a chance, and like any random system there is a chance that the upgrade won't succeed. There are a number of ways to increase your chances of success. This includes using an item dubbed an Upgrade Pity, or the addition of additional materials to the upgrade.

The Upgrade Pity can be purchased from the NPC for smithing in Lost Ark. It increases the odds of an upgrade succeeding by a certain percentage. It's similar to the "luck bonus" that certain items provide, but it is more secure. It can be added to any weapon or armor, and can be used up to three times.

You can also add other materials to the upgrade to increase its chances of success. These materials are displayed in a window above the + button. However, there are limitations to this, and the highest amount of material that can be added is shown right above the + button in the UI.

A Blacksmith Blessing, or an upgraded version of it, can be used to boost the odds of an upgrade being successful. You can also opt for a safeguard that will protect your product in the event of a failure. The cost of this protection can vary but will always be less expensive than the cost of purchasing a new item. The safeguard is only valid once for each upgrade and will not expire until used again.
