Volvo Key Fob Troubleshooting

Volvo drivers love the remote control capabilities of their key fob. They can lock and unlock their vehicle as well as start the motor and even locate it with a smartphone application.

Place the fob's front up on a clean surface. Locate the button that lets you release it, insert a coin between the cover and the fob and pull it up gently.

Unlocking the Doors

Beginning the Engine

Remove the back cover of the key fob by using your fingernail. Under the cover on a diagonal, close to the edge of the body, you should find an unidentified button. Slide it down and to the right. The cover will then come loose and slide off and reveal the manual key blade inside! If you're still having trouble finding the button, look around the newly revealed manual key access to determine whether there's a secret slot or lever.

Closing the Windows

One of the lesser-known features that is not visible on Volvo key fobs is that they allow you to lower all windows in a matter of seconds by using the fobs. This is very useful when you are trying to squeeze into parking spaces that are tight or simply want fresh air while driving.

Press and hold the unlocking button on your volvo replacement key remote control for four seconds. This will lower all of the windows, and also the sunroof, if your car comes with one. When you're done with your vehicle, you can close all windows by pressing the lock key for four seconds.

You can also use the key fob to activate your car's panic alarm. It will emit an alarm that is loud enough to draw attention and deter thieves. Opening the Tailgate

Turning off the Alarm

Modern key fobs are more useful than a traditional car key. However, they aren't able to function in a perfect way for a long time, and their batteries will eventually fail. If you're in a hurry or don't want to visit a shop to have your key fob reprogrammed, you can attempt to make it work at home.

Find a clean work surface and lay out your key fob, battery and any other keys.
