The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored excellently in our tests on floors that were bare, and they are particularly adept at cleaning dog hair. However, they have some flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is that its navigation system doesn't have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's also prone to become stuck on shoes and socks, and it couldn't navigate through rooms with a lot of people efficiently during our tests. Also, it doesn't have an image sensor that lets it see the corners of the room.

Still, it's very good to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on an iRobot Roomba and you have a mostly unfinished home or office. Plus, it's very quiet and you can use it while you're at work or at school. It's not equipped with the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming feature that's available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. And it's less effective at mopping, using disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on for long and don't deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. If you're in need of it clean the mopping pad, it can be changed for one that is wet in just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into a compact, sleek package. Its smart cleaning maps and fluid navigation make it simple to clean, and effective in dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also has a powerful suction and a self-emptying bin. It's the most efficient robot hoover for carpets, though it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

This high-performance vacuum and mops utilizes sensors that help it avoid obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time to provide more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to set up zones and modify the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average when compared to other models.

You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and extend them when it's in a room with carpet to prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm can also be used to reach beneath furniture that is low and along baseboards. It doesn't perform as well on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

In tests during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop that could complete the entire house with the battery at 66 percent left. It did a decent cleaning job on different flooring and rooms with different kinds of flooring, including some area carpets. Its obstacle detection was excellent and it stayed clear of fake dog turds, socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.

It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after it vacuums, a feature that we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

The robot vacuum and mop combination is sleek and has a circular design that appears more like a regular Roomba model than the bulky models of the competitors. It is one of our most attractive looking robot vacuums. The newest model from iRobot happens to be its smartest and has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).

It's also the sole robot vacuum/mop to score an absolute 10 out of 10 in our tests. This is due to the combination of high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that is fully self-refill and empty its base station and boasts an the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.

Like other iRobot models, the X40 is user-friendly, offering an intuitive mobile app interface as well as integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only real drawback is that it's a noisy unit that could be problematic if you run it in the morning before work or in the evening as you attempt to sleep.

It's also somewhat expensive, but it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra Both of which are similarly capable and better-looking. If you're willing to live some more volume and a little more cost, this is a very efficient two-in-one device that should satisfy most people.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot vacuum and mop. It comes with a variety of advanced features that will help you forget your chores. Similar to Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that takes care of both mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multi-function dock that automatically empties the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank, cleans and dry its mop pads.

The smart robot makes use of LIDAR and structured lighting to create floor plans and spot obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its premium competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera to detect hazards in real-time but this was not foolproof in our testing and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.

The vacuum has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to finish the job. It also has an attribute known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the vacuum's power and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas in the home based on how dirty these areas are.

For larger homes, it's worth opting for a model with zone or spot cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean one specific area of your home using the app or via voice commands. A stairway mode is useful if you have a lot furniture. For busy families, a recharge function and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum mop cleaner robot to continue from where it left off could be very beneficial.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is a cleaner with more intelligence than you might expect from its price tag. It is a great job vacuuming, picking up 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with a single pad that uses a reciprocating motion, which cleans better than most of the other robot mop cleaners we've tried. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a fully-featured application, and a self-emptying base that can be washed.

The iRobot app is designed to guide you through a mapping run which collects information about your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules, or to set up a spot-clean. It can also be used to it to prioritize your dirtiest areas for better performance. The app comes with a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, meaning it can get to corners and underneath furniture better. It also has a powerful suction of 8,000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for hair of pets. You can also set up a spot-clean that will thoroughly clean the area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and less expensive alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble adorable eyes. It is capable of vacuuming but is more prone to getting caught on low thresholds and is a bit noisier than the other top robot vacuums we've tested. It also comes with an app that's not as intuitive, and a smaller base station that doesn't double as a bin to empty.
