WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades provide a guaranteed boost to specific stats. Each upgrade increases the item level by +3. A random extra substat is also increased with every upgrade.

Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, unless the item has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a high variance in stats (like eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are less important for those with higher variance due to the need to roll the perfect version.

Recycle Points

Upgrades can cost more based on the level of the item, but they will always be cheaper than buying new gear. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest to ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. A similar item will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used for tools, armor, weapon, and accessory upgrades. Players can purchase them through NPCs who sell upgrades to item upgrade owners for various currencies. They can also find them on random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased, it can be used on any weapon, tool, or armor with a The button will display the preview of an item's next upgrade level when there are enough materials.

The cost of upgrades varies based on the item slot and the current item level as well as the level of the weapon, which is more than gloves or bracers for instance. For instance it's a good idea to utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests with the best equipment available and then save Drake and Wyrm crests for the next round of upgrades you're planning to make. This is particularly relevant for rings and trinkets that take up multiple slots on the character which will only be able to take advantage of the discount for all accounts when all slots are full of high-quality equipment.
