World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades can boost the value of weapons, armors and rings. They also boost extra bonuses like PvE damage and crit chance.

For instance an item with the upgrade template ending in % will suffer 3damage to attack each time it is upgraded (relative to its previous value).

The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost increases as the item's level increases.

Components

Upgrade components can be incorporated into trinkets, weapons and armor to provide them with a boost in stats or to add an additional effect. They can be obtained through crafting, buying from vendors, trading with other players or looting. Some upgrades can also be accompanied by special cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can be placed in equipment with a slot for them. The item must be at the very least upgraded to blue level for a component to be inserted. Unlike other mods, upgrade components can only be used once; they can't be used multiple times or replaced with new upgrades. Infusions and enrichments are a type of upgrade component that is used to upgrade non-amulet legendary or ascending equipment, as in some items that aren't ascended. Infusions and enrichments can be obtained by salvaging ascended equipment or by completing a mission within the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.

A prefix or suffix can be added to an upgrade, changing the name of the item it is used on (for example, 'Canthan Armor Insignia,' becomes Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Certain upgrades boost the Mark Level or Rarity of an item, which lets players to create stronger versions using the smallest amount of Upgrade crystals than they would require to achieve the same level with normal methods.

A boost upgrade can change the attack or defense attributes of an armored weapon or. After the player has completed the cutscene and defeated Crazed Mechanist, these upgrades can be created at the Portative Forging Station. Leveling

The upgrade system for items allows players to increase the power of certain items by introducing upgraded components. This is referred to as "upping". Each level of an item requires different components, and the cost of upgrading increase with each level.

Certain upgrades require a specific ingredient to activate. This ingredient is obtained by completing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be purchased from NPCs or on the upgrade tab in crafting tables. Each completed Upgrade Recipe earns some Technology Points. These points can be used to upgrade the item, and when enough points are earned, the upgrade will be claimed and its additional bonuses will be added to the item.

When the player upgrades an item, the base item is replaced with a different Best item upgrade of the same kind. The same armor will receive an weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item comes with its own bonus. This could be a drawback, as it can make the item upgrader mod more expensive if you don't require it.

Item upgrades can sometimes be rerolled, provided that the player has enough reroll tokens to do so. This will cause the item upgrade to be traded for a new one, with the level 1 base, and a completely different set of bonus bonuses. This can be useful for certain items, however it shouldn't be performed frequently, since it could waste many resources.

Certain upgrades can be rerolled many times which increases their value and giving players the ability to alter their equipment. The rate of failure increases as you move beyond the maximum number. Failures will cause the item to go to its initial state, requiring the player to spend more materials than they would had they stopped upgrading at the maximum amount of upgrades.

If an item is not upgraded the experience bar in its growth bar will reset to zero. Additionally the item will be deducted any bonuses it gained such as crit chance, attack damage, as well as all additional effects associated with the effect (for example, increased heal over time or speed of reload).
