WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give a guaranteed boost to specific stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item upgrader kit by +3. A random additional substat is also increased with every upgrade.

The upgraded gear is usually more useful, unless the item has low requirements by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a high variance in stats (like Eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are less valuable for those with higher variance because of the requirement to roll the perfect version.

Recycle Points

The Item level upgrade upgrader enables players to upgrade gear to a higher level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of weapon or armor. However, the item that is used to upgrade will be consumed for the duration of time and can't be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create the enchantments.

The upgrader is located in all major cities, and can be accessed at any time to upgrade your gear. It is recommended to visit the upgrader every few weeks, to keep your equipment up to date.

Upgrades will cost more depending on the level of the item however, they are always less expensive than purchasing new equipment. For example upgrading a Benthic chest piece to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points while buying a similar item from another player will costs 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to upgrade tools, armor, weapon, and accessory upgrades. Players can purchase them through NPCs who sell upgrades to item owners in a variety of currencies. They can also find them on random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be applied to any tool, weapon, or armor. button, which will show an image of the item upgrader kit at the next upgrade level when the player has enough materials.

Upgrade costs differ based on the slot of the item upgrader mod and the current level of the item. For example weapons cost more than gloves, bracers, or bracers. Each step costs 15 Flightstones plus a certain number of crests. Some upgrades give discounts on Flightstones. Once an item upgrader mod has been upgraded to a certain level, it can be downgraded and sold to the upgrader for a lower price.

Upgraders for items can be found in many places including the main island, as well as a few outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade coupon and a possibility of getting the latest recipe. The upgrade discount increases when more items are upgraded. It can also be increased by having players complete certain achievements or quests.

Crests

Crests are more special and are used for specific item level upgrades. Crests are an integral component of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System, which was introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.

The first thing to be aware of is that crests can only be used on gear of a specific rank, and each rank has its own requirements for upgrading. The simplest and most straightforward upgrade route costs 15 crests while the most complex requires as many as 20 crests, based on the kind of gear being upgraded.

Players can earn crests by completing tasks at the appropriate level. Using these new currencies isn't too difficult however, the system introduces some modifications to the upgrade items process. When a piece attains the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it is no longer required to purchase Flightstones. This change allows players to upgrade their gear to the highest possible level on all their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.

It's also essential to use crests wisely, as they only have one use. For instance it's a good idea to utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests on the best equipment available and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests for the next batch of upgrades you're planning to create. This is particularly relevant for rings and trinkets that take up multiple slots on the character, which can only be eligible to take advantage of the account-wide discount when all slots are filled with top-quality gear.
