WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a boost to certain stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item by 3. A random additional substat is also increased with every upgrade.

Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, unless it has a low requirement by nature (like FB sorc shields) or a high stat variance (like Eth Titan weapons). The latter see less value from upgrading due to the requirement to roll for a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by offering the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of weapon or armor. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and can't be used again. Upgrades can be used to create the enchantments.

You can upgrade your equipment anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To keep your gear current, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader every several weeks.

The cost of upgrading will vary based on the current level of the item upgrader mod being upgraded however, they will always be less expensive than purchasing new gear from other sources. Upgrades such as upgrading a Benthic chest to ilvl385 will cost you 20 recycle points. Buying a similar item will cost you 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are functional items which can be used to improve the quality of weapons tools, armor, and accessories. They can be purchased by players from NPCs who sell upgrades for items in exchange for a variety of currencies, and can be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be used on any tool, weapon or armor. button, which displays an image of the item at its next upgrade level when the player has enough materials.

The cost of upgrades varies based on the slot of the item upgrader Kit and current item level and the weapon's price is higher than gloves or bracers for example. Each step costs 15 Flightstones plus a certain number of crests. Some upgrades give discounts on Flightstones. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain degree and is degraded, it can be sold and sold back to the upgrader for a lower amount of the two currencies.

Many locations have upgraders for their items in addition to the main island and a few outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade coupon and the possibility of obtaining an entirely new recipe. The discount for upgrading increases when more items are upgraded. It can be increased if players complete certain achievements or complete quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an item upgrader at start, unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. Instead the NPCs that are available to facilitate upgrades require several methods that are both an improvement as well as a disadvantage.

In Season 3 the upgrade system has been tweaked a bit, with several new features added. Once a player has upgraded to a specific level for an armor slot upgrading other items to the same level, will cost less. This applies even if those items come from another set of equipment.

The discount is available to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests needed to upgrade is cut also, but is only available after certain milestones are reached.

Crests

Players have several options for upgrading their equipment in WoW. They can make use of Flightstones which are a common upgrade currency available to everyone players, or crests, which are more specific and consumed during upgrades on specific item levels. Crests are an important element of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.

The first thing to be aware of is that crests are only able to be used on equipment of a particular rank, and that each rank has its own requirements for upgrading. The simplest and simplest upgrade route costs 15 crests while the most complex requires as many as 20 crests depending on the type of gear that is being upgraded.

When a piece of equipment reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it is no longer required to purchase Flightstones. This change lets players upgrade their equipment to the highest possible level on all their characters, instead of relying on seasonal loot.

It's also important to use crests with care, since they have only one purpose. For instance, it's a good idea to use all of your Whelpling-rank crests on the Best item upgrader gear you have available and save Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you're planning on making. This is particularly true for items like trinkets and rings that occupy multiple slots on the character, which will only be able to take advantage of the discount for all accounts when all of the slots are full of high-quality equipment.
