WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades can give you an increase in certain statistics. Each upgrade increases the level of the item by +3. A random extra substat is also boosted alongside every upgrade.

Upgraded gear generally sees more value in trade, unless it has inherently low requirements (like the FB sorc's shield) or has a high stat variation (like Eth titan weapons). The latter see less value from upgrading due to the need to roll for a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The Item Level Upgrade upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by transferring the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be made on any type of armor or weapons. The item used to upgrade the item upgrader kit will be consumed and can't be used again. Upgrades can be applied to the enchantments.

The upgrader is located in all major cities, and is accessible anytime to upgrade your gear. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader every few weeks, to ensure that your equipment is up-to-date.

Using these new currencies isn't that difficult, but the system does introduce some changes to the overall upgrade process. Once a piece of gear reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer), it is no longer required to purchase Flightstones. This change allows players to upgrade their gear to the highest possible ilvl for all their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.

Another important change is that crests only have one use and it's crucial to make use of them in a responsible manner. It is recommended to use your Whelpling-rank crests on the highest-quality gear you can find and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests to be used for the next set of upgrades. This is especially applicable to items like rings and trinkets that occupy several slots. The discount on the account is only applicable when all the slots on the character are filled with high-quality gear.
