World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades can boost the value of weapons, armors and rings. They also increase bonuses such as crit chance and PvE damage.

The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost increases as the level of the item increases.

Components

Upgrade components can be incorporated into weapons, armor and trinkets in order to give them a stat boost or add a bonus effect. They can be obtained by crafting, purchasing from vendors trading, or looting. Some upgrades also have specific cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can only be used on equipment with a slot. The item must be upgraded to a blue level before the component can be applied. In contrast to other mods components can only be used once and can't be used multiple times or replaced with new upgrades. Infusions and enrichments are a specific kind of upgrade component used for non-amulet ascended and legendary equipment as well as the items that are not ascending back. Enrichments and Infusions can be obtained by salvaging equipment from the ascended state or completing a mission in the Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall campaigns.

Glyphs

If the player has enough tokens they can roll item upgrades. This will cause the item to be traded for a new one, which will come with a level 1 base and a totally different set of bonuses.
