World of Warcraft - Item Upgrading

Item upgrading allows players to boost the gear score of an item level upgrade up to 700 and add an additional perk. Items can be upgraded by keeping them in inventory and heading to the kiln.

Certain items are worth upgrading because of their distinctive stats. (For example an excellently broken point armor that is rolled can be used in melee PvP). Other items such as weapons aren't changed much after an upgrade, and aren't worth it.

Weapons

Weapons can be upgraded to increase their numeric stats such as damage to attack, crit chance PvE and damage from PvP. Weapons have a flat-rate bonus that increases damage per second. Some weapons also have an unaffected bonus that is activated when three or more identical weapons are placed in a unit. In certain instances, this bonus could amount to more than the amount of damage that a weapon upgrades by itself.

The cost of upgrading a weapon depends on its rarity and level. For instance, a +2 weapon will require two regular Smithing Stones to upgrade while the +3 model requires four. The number of stones required to upgrade a gun will increase until it needs a higher level of Smithing Stones. At that point, it will reset back to one.

The upgrade of weapons can also change their base stats. This is generally a positive aspect, but it may also have negative consequences. In the case of items that are only used in a certain build (Whistant's shield for FB sorcs, for instance) upgrading them could render them unusable unless you have an extremely lucky roll.

Armor items can also be upgraded to boost their performance. In the case of chests or helms, it will boost the defense of its base, while gloves and belts will improve their required strength and dexterity. Armor offers a rerolling option for its Enhanced Defense%. This means that it may roll down to a lower value.

The upgrade template for a weapon displays the new stats it will gain upon upgrading in addition to their relative values. This means that the weapon will gain an attack damage of 3% if it is upgraded from an 8 attack damage sword to an 11 attack damage sword. The 3% doesn't mean that the weapon will strike 3 times less, as it is an absolute number.

Rerolling a weapon is possible by pressing the green button on the item upgrade menu, using the circling arrows. This will roll an item level upgrade and alter its stats, but it will not reset the weapon's levels or bind it to account status.

Armor

Adding a few upgrades to your armor can make a an enormous difference in your capacity to withstand. Certain sets offer massive improvements in the resistance to curses, poisons and fire as well as magic. This makes it easier to traverse difficult areas. The more defense your character has the more value you can get from each point of health you possess, so it's important to improve your armor as much as possible.

To upgrade your armor, go to any of the Great Fairy Fountains in the game. There are four Great Fairy Fountains within the game and to unlock them all, you have to complete an additional quest that involves the Stable Trotters. Once you've completed the primary side quest and completed the fountain in question you'll be able to contact any Great Fairy to open up the armor upgrading menu.

Each piece of armor can be upgraded up to three levels, and the amount of material and Rupees needed for each will vary. In general, you'll be looking at anything from three to ten Red Chuchu Jellies and ten Rupees for the initial upgrade, and anywhere between five Rubies and 10 Fire-Breath Lizalfos Horns for each subsequent one. The Champion Leathers, as an example can be upgraded to a +5 defense rating, which will allow you to keep up in frigid conditions with a large number of foes. The Snowquill Headdress, on the other hand, can be upgraded to +20 defense to ensure you can survive a raid with friends.

You can't upgrade your armor like weapons. If you're playing as a Warrior, you should focus on upgrading your armor for physical strength or the power of spells. It's also worthwhile to save your armor upgrades to use for armor you'll still be wearing at the end of the game, like the Ring of Lightning and Spectral Shield or the helmet you'll wear to fight the final boss and the Monter Parts Merchant's mask.

You can also gain benefits to your armor by giving the jeweler in Gerudo Town 10 Twinkling Titanite. It is generally recommended to save these upgrades to the weapon you'll use to win the game. For instance, the Longsword or Battleaxe. It's nevertheless beneficial to have a few upgrades to the helmets and chest armor so that you can get around a few monsters.

Potions

Potions are substances in bottles that, when consumed give the player an effect on their status for a short period of time. There are five different types of potions, each having a specific set of effects and durations. Certain potions can be upgraded to increase their level of effectiveness. You can also increase the effects of certain potions by including glowstone dust and redstone.

Potion upgrades cost a certain amount of XP, which can be earned by crafting them on a crafting table or in the Alchemist's chest. The cost of upgrading varies based on the type of potion and the item's rarity as well as Mark Level.

Trinkets

Players can upgrade trinkets as well as weapons, armor, and potions. They can be upgraded by going to an upgrade vendor and paying the appropriate currency. Unlike other item upgrades trinkets, trinkets can be swapped out at will without losing their status.

Upgrade vendors can be found at the capitals of every zone and in some cases in dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets are purchased using tokens, gold or fragments of rare trinkets.

Upgrades to trinkets are an affordable alternative to buying an entirely new one. It is possible to upgrade the player for just 12 tokens. The new trinket has the same level of base as the previous trinket but will also have an additional bonus of 1% upgrade.

Trinkets can be re-upgraded once they are not needed, allowing a player to boost their power and value over time. They can be traded among players which makes them a good alternative to gold.

Players must upgrade their most valuable items first. This usually refers to the most valuable-in-slot items for their class, followed by their secondaries and then other items of gear will not be replaced soon (for example an earring or cloak). Players should also take into consideration their class's preferred stats when choosing which items to upgrade. If Haste and Crit are two of the most important stats to a tank player, then they should upgrade their chest, helm, and shoulders.

When they are no longer useful trinkets can be upgraded to a greater level. The new trinket has an additional 1percent bonus. A re-upgrade, however, will destroy the trinket unless it can be salvaged using the Black Lion Salvage Kit, or a higher tier salvage tool. Upgrades to trinkets are more expensive than other upgrades but still cheaper than buying an entirely new trinket.
