WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades can give you boost in specific statistics. Each upgrade increases the item level by +3. Each upgrade also boosts the random substatus.

Upgraded gear is generally more useful, unless the item has low requirements by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a high variance in stats (like the eth Titan weapons). Upgrades aren't as valuable for the latter due to the need to roll the perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade their gear by offering the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of weapon or armor. The item upgrader kit used to upgrade the item upgrader kit will be consumed and cannot be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create the enchantments.

The upgrader can be found in all major cities, and can be visited anytime to upgrade your gear. To keep your gear current it is recommended you visit the upgrader each few weeks.

Upgrades will cost more, based on the item level, however, they are always cheaper than purchasing new equipment. For instance upgrading a Benthic chest piece to 385 levels will cost 20 recycle points while purchasing the same item from a different player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are functional items that can be used to level up weapons tools, armor, and accessories. They can be purchased by players through item upgrading upgrader NPCs in exchange for different currencies, and can also be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be used on any weapon, tool, or armor. The button will show the preview of an item's next level of upgrade, if there are enough materials.

The cost of upgrading varies based on the slot for the item and the current item level. For example, weapons will cost more than gloves, bracers or bracers. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a variety of crests, with certain upgrades offering discounts to lower the cost of Flightstones or the crests used. After an item has been upgraded to a certain degree it is able to be downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower price.

Upgraders for items are available in many places on the main island and some outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount and a chance to acquire a new upgrade recipe. The discount for upgrades increases with the number of items that are being upgraded, and can be boosted by having players complete some specific achievements or quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an item level upgrade upgrader at start unlike Cromwell from Baldur's Gate II. The NPCs that can assist with upgrades are available only through a variety means. This is both a benefit and a disadvantage.

In Season 3 the upgrade system was modified a bit, and some new features added. When a player has an upgrade item to a specific item level for a particular armor slot, upgrading additional items to the same level will cost less, even if they are part of an entirely different set of gear.

The discount is applicable to all accounts. In the same way, the amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is also reduced and is not available until players have reached certain milestones in their achievement.

Crests

Players have a number of options for upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are a currency that is available to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specialized and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are a crucial part of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System that was introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.

First, you should know that crests are only available for equipment that is of a particular rank. Each rank has an upgrade path that is different. The simplest and most straightforward upgrade process costs just 15 crests while the most complicated may require as many as 20 crests depending on the kind of gear being upgraded.

Players can obtain crests by working through content that is of the appropriate level, whether that means walking around and doing outdoor activities for lower-tier gear, raids or dungeons with all difficulty for items of higher tier, or Mythic+ heroic raid bosses and dungeons to obtain endgame gear. These crests can be exchanged with an upgrader for the item, such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and pathways.

The new currency system isn't difficult to use, but it brings some modifications to the upgrade process. Once a piece of gear attains the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it no longer requires Flightstones. This change allows players to upgrade their equipment to the highest possible ilvl on all their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.

It's also crucial to choose crests with care, since they are only used for one purpose. It is recommended to use your Whelpling-rank Crests on the Best item upgrader gear you can locate and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests for the next set of upgrades. This is especially true for items such as trinkets and rings that fill multiple slots. The discount on the account will only be applicable if all the slots on the character are filled with high-quality equipment.
