Path of Exile Item Upgrading

The ability to upgrade items allows players to enhance their weapons and gear with new affixes, boosting the base stats of the item upgrade or giving additional benefits. To upgrade items, the player must have the item level upgrade in their inventory, and also access the kiln.

Items with weak bases, like rings can be upgraded to a stronger base. Items with strong bases, like the Titans of eth have little changes in their stats.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components are items that can be slotted into trinkets, armor, weapons and gathering tools, providing an attribute bonus or extra effect when the equipment is in use. They can be purchased from vendors, found in loot, dropped by enemies, or obtained as a reward from missions or chests. Certain upgrades can also be equipped with special cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require the equipment to be at a certain level before they can be upgraded.

To upgrade a weapon or piece of armor, the user must choose it and click on the Upgrade button located in the toolbar. This will display a preview on the right side of the screen, showing what the expected upgrade stats will be and also the material or component needed to complete the upgrade.

There are three kinds that are universal upgrades (which include gems), prefix upgrades, and suffix upgrade components. Universal upgrades, such as gems, can be used on any kind of equipment. They provide a smaller bonus than upgrade components that are subject to a type restriction. Infusions, which can only be placed in gear that is ascended and legendary equipment are similar to jewels but provide larger bonuses and cannot be placed in any other equipment. Suffix upgrades can be added to gathering tools. They will add the suffix at the end of item names. For instance, adding a Glyph would make a Staff wrapping of Minor Vigor a Canthan staff wrapping of Minor Vigor.

If a player upgrades a gathering tool, and then replaces the glyphs by a different one, the old one will be returned to their inventory. If you replace another upgrade component with a glyph, it will be destroyed, with the exception for inscriptions, which can be freely swapped.

Leveling

Path of Exile's upgrade process differs from the previous versions in a few fundamental ways. Gear is now classified into tracks and each item can only be upgraded as many times before it's "leveled out." The cost of upgrading increases with each level, however the materials required for upgrades do not. This allows players to focus their efforts on a handful of essential items and maximize their impact instead of spreading the cost of upgrades across several items.

This will enable the item to receive new upgrade components, and have a greater chance of success. This bonus is called the Artisan's Energy. It will reset to 0 if the upgrade fails or increases when the upgrade succeeds.

When a piece of equipment is upgraded to its maximum level it can be eligible to gain affixes which will boost its attributes. The number of affixes available will depend on the item's base type. Each upgrade requires an amount of Flightstones and crests to complete depending on the item's current level and the item slot it's in. Weapons will typically require more Flightstones than other equipment.

If an item fails to attain its maximum level the NPC will offer players the option to transfer it to another character and re-infuse it with an upgrade set that is different. This process can take between one and two hours, and costs the same amount of material. However, it has a lower chance of success.

Engineers may employ a level to compare the height of the building to a known point, like the benchmark. This method is known as a "level loop." It involves taking readings with the backsight rod and the level and then turning the level and taking the foresight rod reading. This method guarantees that the buildings are constructed with the highest degree of precision and safety.

Rerolling

Rerolling is the process of altering an item upgrader's upgrade components. Each upgraded item can also have a unique bonus that increases the power of the item by a specific percentage or flat value. These bonuses are added to normal affixes. The more you upgrade your product, the greater your chances of receiving an exclusive bonus.
